Stimulation réciproque entre la peur de la criminalité et l’industrie de la protection: l’exemple des récits cinématographiques et des systèmes électroniques de protection des abitations

Dans la culture de la peur, le quotidien est vécu à travers le sentiment de sécurité dont une part est considérée comme assurée grâce à certains systèmes électroniques pour la prévention et la protection. Sur trois exemples cinématographiques – Obsession fatale (Unlawful Entry, 1992), La Chambre forte (Panic Room, 2002) et Terreur sur la ligne (When a Stranger Calls, 2006) – sera étudié le rapport de la peur de la criminalité, plus exactement de la peur des cambriolages des habitations d’une part et des systèmes électroniques de protection des habitations de l’autre. Le principal problème soulevé consiste dans l’hypothèse que la peur culturellement produite a un effet stimulant sur l’industrie des systèmes électroniques de protection; la présence de cette dernière dans la vie quotidienne d’une personne peut en retour avoir une certaine influence sur l’intensification de sa crainte de devenir victime d’un comportement criminel (violent).
