La notion de la dépense dans l’économie générale de Georges Bataille: crise sociale entre dénuement et opulence

Dans ce travail est actualisé le couple conceptuel dénuement-opulence à travers le phénomène de la dépense des excédents considérés comme part maudite dans l’ethnologie, la sociologie et la philosophie de Georges Bataille. Dans le cadre du projet inachevé de l’économie générale, puis dans l’examen du même couple conceptuel dans le champ de la théorie économique, puis de l’économie politique chez Lionel Robbins et J. M. Keynes, s’ouvre l’espace pour une réflexion sur l’actualité des conclusions de Bataille dans la phase actuelle du capitalisme néolibéral puis pour un nouvel examen du statut du dénuement et de l’opulence dans le capitalisme tardif de la polycrise. La fluctuation de ces notions et catégories est un modèle pour le changement du discours de la théorie économique ainsi que de la théorie sociale critique au sens plus large, dans le tournant de l’économie politique classique vers la théorie économique néoclassique et le néolibéralisme au long du vingtième siècle jusqu’à nos jours. La figure complexe et controversée de Bataille, par son alliance transgressive de sociologie, anthropologie, philosophie et de littérature reste inspirante pour l’examen critique de la phase néolibérale de la modernité.
