Tekst pruža okvir za razumevanje uloge popularne nauke u domenu kulturnih ratova koji se trenutno odvijaju u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama, ali i na drugim mestima na Zapadu. U prvi plan smeštena je politička instrumentalizacija serije Kosmos, kao narativa koji u sebi sadrži određeni set filozofskih i kulturološki relevantnih poruka. Opisani su osnovni koncepti koji doprinose razumevanju takve pozicije popularne nauke u savremenom svetu, kao što je analizirana formula jedne sezone serije. Pored toga, predstavljena je kritika serijala koja dolazi iz domena kreacionističkog diskursa, kao nevelikog, ali izuzetno aktivnog društvenog pokreta u Americi. To je učinjeno s ambicijom da se sagledaju moć i značaj poruka utkanih u naučno-popularne narative.
