Wikipedia est une encyclopédie on line qui, bien qu'elle ne prétende pas à la « véracité », a l'obligation de référencer comme l'un des principes clés de rédaction des contenus. Cependant, de nombreux textes de Wikipedia ayant de l'intérêt pour des groupes culturels différents et souvent en conflit, démontrent le parti pris pour une certaine interprétation de la « vérité ». Cela ne surprend pas outre mesure parce que Wikipedia est ouverte à tous pour la rédaction des contenus. Aussi, étant donné qu'il s'agit d'une des pages les plus lues sur internet, il n'est pas surprenant que Wikipedia soit devenue un territoire de lutte entre les récits variés de domination. Dans les Balkans, les textes de Wikipedia en différentes langues concernant les questions de la propriété ethnique sur certains segments du patrimoine culturel de la région représentent un exemple intéressant de la lutte pour l'élaboration d'un récit dominant. Dans ce travail, par une analyse du texte et des références pour la biographie plurilingue d'Avdo Međedović le célèbre «Homère des Balkans » sur Wikipedia, l'on démontre comment les environnements textuels on line mais aussi off line contribuent au transfert des débats sur la « propriété » du patrimoine culturel sur Wikipedia par la création des contenus fondés sur des stratégies de citation motivées d'une manière ethnopolitique.
