Apstrakt

Položaj životinja u teorijskoj imaginaciji i društvu proističe iz istorijske naturalizacije osnovnih epistemoloških i ontoloških kategorija, kompleksne društveno-kulturološke geneze koncepata čije pretpostavke danas nije jednostavno razmrsiti. Dato razumevanje subjektivnosti i društvenosti podrazumeva prirodu kao svoju suprotnost, ali i da su sve druge kategorije u graničnim klasifikacionim područjima a priori podređene ljudskim interesima i ciljevima. Debate koje su se tokom sedamdesetih i osamdesetih godina vodile, kad su u pitanju pokreti za prava životinja i ekofeministički pokret, unele su svojevrsnu pometnju u do tada podrazumevani pristup tom pitanju. Međutim, tek odnedavno aktuelna biopolitička teorija, postavljajući pitanje određenja čoveka i uzimajući u obzir konceptualne pomake u vezi sa granicom između bioloških vrsta, uspostavljenom u modernom diskursu, unosi značajnije novine i u debatu o vegetarijanstvu. Sa ciljem da obrazložimo pomake koji se u debati mogu načiniti u prostoru koji se otvorio s biopolitičkom teorijom, dva argumenta koja su dugo dominirala debatom – etički i ekofeministički – podvrgavamo kritičkoj analizi. Dok su etičko i ekofeminističko stanovište fokusirani na kategorije političke subjektivnosti i antropocentričke pretpostavke, biopolitika pokreće pitanje nadilaženja duboke ambivalentnosti normativnih i praktičnih rešenja koja karakterišu čovekov odnos prema životinjama i njihovom planskom i sistematizovanom ubijanju za potrebe prehrambene industrije.
