L’oeuvre littéraire d’Ursula Le Guin, auteur de science-fiction, entretient des liens multiples avec l’anthropologie tant sur le plan théorique que sur le plan pratique. Sa vie, sa formation, sa production littéraire et sa réception constituent un ensemble associé à plusieurs niveaux avec l’anthropologie, d’une part, et les changements du monde contemporain, d’autre part. Grâce à son immense popularité, son oeuvre a contribué de façon significative à l’adoption de certaines thèses anthropologiques dans la population la plus large, sans se limiter au seul continent américain. Ainsi, elle a exercé une influence considérable sur la transformation du discours public ou, en d’autres mots, sur la constitution de l’image contemporaine du monde idéal.
