Terreur et envoûtement par le corps éternel : la momie dans la première littérature d’horreur

Des fantaisies sur la possibilité d’une existence physique indescriptiblement longue ou infinie sont analysées sous forme de représentations culturelles sur la momie en tant que corps physique éternel, dans la littérature anglaise du dix-neuvième et du premier vingtième siècle. En s’appuyant sur trois récits et 'un roman, nous montrons comment s’effectue le façonnement des représentations culturelles sur la culture étrangère et lointaine à travers les représentations sur sa propre culture.
